DESCRIPTION
The Koster Waterstop is a
fast curing, expanding
water plug and repair
mortar. The unique curing
process and the slight
material expansion of
the curing mortar creates
an intense contact between
the existing substrate
and the water plug. It
thus seals even cracks
caused by pressurised
water and water breakthroughs
fast and safe.

FIELD OF APPLICATION
The Koster Waterstop seals
fast in-rushes of water
and leakages in concrete,
masonry and natural stone
structures. The material
may be used for fillets
subject to pressurised
water, it seals slot walls,
cable- and pipeways, and
seals subsequently damaged
pipe joints in canal construction
even if they are exposed
to pressurised water.
PREPARATION OF
SUBSTRATE
A firm, solid and clean
substrate is the precondition
for a permanently safe
waterproofing. The area
to be waterproofed must
not be subject to movements.
Remove the masonry around
leakages at least 2 cm
deep. Pre-dampen dry substrates
thoroughly with water.
APPLICATION
Mix Koster Waterstop with
clean water homogeneously
into a plastic stiff mortar
(water consumption app.
150 ml /kg). Due to the
fast curing it is advisable
to prepare only small
amounts. Fill in-rushes
of water by pressing the
stiffened mortar into
the void by hand and press
it app. 1 – 2 minutes
into it (until cured).
It is possible to accelerate
the curing time at lower
temperatures by using
warm mix water. Take care
that substrate and surrounding
temperature do not fall
below + 5°C /41°F.
We recommend to coat the
area around the in-rush
of water with Koster NB-Sealing
Slurry I grey (min. 40
cm radius around the leak)(consumption
app. 4.0 kg /m²).
If the substrate is heavily
damaged by salt and damp,
it is necessary to coat
the surface with the KD
System.
