| Koster Polysil
TG 500 is a low viscous
primer based on a polymer
and silicate mixture. Once
applied to salt polluted
and damp substrates it reduces
the pore volume and reduces
efflorescence. Koster Polysil
reduces the absorbency and
increases the strength of
mineral substrates. Koster Polysil
hardens Sealing Slurries
and thus improves their
performance. The product
penetrates up to 2 cm into
the substrate (depending
on its composition). |

FIELD OF APPLICATION
Koster Polysil can be used
on very damp and salt
damaged mineral substrates
such as concrete, masonry,
plaster etc. Koster Polysil
is suitable for use when
a substrate is saturated
by nonpressurised ground
water in e.g. a basement.
PREPARING THE
SURFACE
The substrate has to be
low to highly absorbent,
dry or damp. It has to
be free of dust, laitance,
oil and other contaminants
that might affect the
bonding adversely. Remove
efflorescence by brushing
or grinding it away before
applying Koster Polysil.
APPLICATION
Koster Polysil is applied
either by brush or by
spray. The surrounding
and substrate temperature
must not fall below 00
C/32°F during curing.
Allow Koster Polysil to dry
for approx. 4 hours before
applying cement based
construction materials
and for min. 24 hours
before coating it with
acrylate- or silicate
colours. Salts occurring
on the surface during
curing period have to
be brushed away. No more
efflorescence will emerge
at the surface after the
completion of the curing
period.
INTERNAL SEALING
WITH RIGID SEALING SLURRIES
To improve coatings with
NB-Sealing Slurry I grey
the substrate should be
primed with Koster Polysil
first. Allow priming coat
to dry for app. 4 hours
before coating the surface
with NB-Sealing Slurry
without adding SB-Bonding
Emulsion. Immediately
after the sealing slurry
has been applied, apply
Koster Polysil followed by
a second layer of slurry
and thereafter a final
hardening layer of Koster
Polysil.
